FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here are a few answers to our most common questions however please don't hesitate to get in contact should you have any further questions that aren't answered below.
COSMETIC TATTOOING
Ombre or Powder Brow is a technique where thousands of tiny pigment dots are placed into the skin to create a shading of colour throughout the entire brow. This technique is defined on the ends and goes to soft gradient of colour towards the start. This technique achieves a ‘makeup’ or ‘tinted’ brow look. Although this is a more bold technique once healed can still look extremely natural and soft.
Combination technique is a blend of the feather stoke and ombre techniques where you can have the best of both worlds with hair like strokes throughout the start of the brow and shading defining the ends.
Feather stroke is a technique where delicate hair strokes are placed throughout the brow to create hair like impressions; this is done by implanting pigment in a line under the skin. Feather stroke is not a technique we offer due to the longevity of this tattoo technique on the skin and not being suitable for all skin types. if you have any further questions please consult your artist for information.
You will have a full consultation on the day of your appointment where you and your artists will discuss what you want your desired outcome to be, what you skin type is and other factors which will influence which technique is decided on.
Is the tattoo painful?Your comfort during your tattooing is paramount. Topical anaesthetic is applied during the procedure to help keep you comfortable and pain to a minimum. However it is very important to recognise that everyone has a different pain threshold so please communicate any concerns about pain so we can go over our options in more detail. Other factors such as timing of menstrual cycles can increase discomfort. Certain conditions such as Fibromyalgia may affect sensitivity during and after your procedure.
How long will it take?
Please allow 3 hours for your initial session.
The tattooing itself is generally only 45-60 minutes. Although every session is unique, this is what happens during every treatment:
An in depth discussion around your expectations, achievable results, shape and colour
The area is cleansed and sterilized with alcohol. Precise measurements and mapping of the Eyebrows/Lips are taken using a waterproof pencil and barrier paste
Mixed pigment is applied onto the skin using a tattoo device and sterilised disposable needle. Both are specifically designed for cosmetic tattooing
Once the first pass on the Brows/Lips is complete, cleaning of the area and numbing gel is applied
We repeat the steps 3 and 4 1-2 more times until complete
As the name describes the perfecting appointment is there to ensure the brows are PERFECT! We do not always need to do a lot of tattooing in this appointment. It is there to reinforce and build on the pigment where it might have faded slightly. An acceptable fade is between 10-50%. Pigment retention from your initial session can vary greatly on the individual and the factors mentioned below:
Skin Type such as high oil production.
Age and skin integrity.
Sun Exposure. Repeated UV exposure actively fades tattoo pigment.
Topical medications, such as steroids
Skincare with active ingredients, such as Retinoids.
Cosmetic procedures such as Chemical Peels and Laser
Lifestyle Factors which expose your skin to free radicals, such as smoking
Not all techniques are suitable for all skin types, to ensure as little trauma to the skin is being cause your artist will let you know if your desired technique is suitable for you or not.
Cosmetic tattooing lasts anywhere from 1-3 years depending on your skin type and lifestyle. This form of technique is designed to be semi permanent and fades over time. Factors that influence the longevity of the tattoo include:
Skin Type such as high oil production.
Age and skin integrity.
Sun Exposure. Repeated UV exposure actively fades tattoo pigment.
Topical medications, such as steroids
Skincare with active ingredients, such as Retinoids.
Cosmetic procedures such as Chemical Peels and Laser
Lifestyle Factors which expose your skin to free radicals, such as smoking.
It is recommended to come in annually for a colour re-fresh, this will ensure your tattoo is looking beautiful and defined all year round. Some clients like to come every 6-9 months where others prefer to push it out a bit further.
Cosmetic Tattooing is suitable for most people. However, there are certain conditions that affect your eligibility, interfere with the tattooing procedure and or healing process. It is important to disclose all relevant health information to your artist to ensure any contraindications can be identified and ensure you are a good candidate. This includes looking at your age, overall health and skin quality.
If you have any health issues your artist may ask for you to get a written letter from your doctor approving the procedure. It is at the artist's discretion if they wish to proceed or not. Please respect that if you are refused treatment this is done with your health as the main concern and not causing any further issues.
If you are still eligible for the treatment but you have contraindications you need to be realistic with your expectations and understand that your results may vary due to these factors.
Before
Do not work out on the day of the procedure.
Attend with a bare face and no makeup on the day of your appointment
Avoid tanning or sunburn to the face.
Avoid the use of Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 24 hours beforehand. This can cause an increase of bleeding during the session.
No alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure.
No waxing or tinting 72 hours prior to your session.
Avoid Botox/Dysport and Fillers to the area at least 2 weeks prior.
No laser treatment to direct or surrounding areas 30 days before and 6 weeks after.
Cease use of chemical peels and skincare with active ingredients 30 days before and 4-6 weeks after. These include Fruit/Milk Acids and Retinoids unless prescribed by a doctor.
FOR LIPS -If you have had previous cold sores please take antiviral medication 48 hours prior to your treatment.
After
Within 24 Hours
Remove any excess lymph (clear fluid) with a damp cotton pad. Use medium pressure to wipe across the area. Repeat this process using the wipes provided at least 2-3 times before going to bed. This will help prevent the formation of scabs. Redness and swelling is usually minimal, and will disappear within 48 hours, or no later than 3 days.
The Next 7 Days
Apply your aftercare cream morning and night with a cotton tip, wiping off any old cream with a damp cotton pad before reapplying. If you have extremely oily skin you can use the cream as required.
Keep your tattoo dry for the next 7 days
No strenuous exercise, sweating or direct sunlight to the area for 7 days
Minimal touching and ensure that you wash your hands to avoid the transmission of bacteria to the area.
Do not exfoliate the area, pick at the scab or any flaking. This can lift pigment out of the deeper layers of skin.
No makeup near the treated area as this can transmit bacteria.
Cease use of chemical peels and skincare with active ingredients for 4-6 weeks These include Fruit/Milk Acids and Retinoids unless prescribed by a doctor.
SPECIFICALLY FOR LIPS
If you are prone to Cold Sores, continue to take antivirals as per pharmacist advice. If a Cold Sore does emerge, you may use topical antiviral as per pharmacist advice
Avoid spicy or salty food making direct contact to your lips for 3-5 days
Where possible, drink all liquids through a clean straw for 3-5 days
Use toothpaste without whitening products
Immediately After (Day 1): The pigment will appear very sharp and dark immediately after the procedure. This is because the pigment is still sitting on top of the skin and has not settled in completely. The color of the pigment will soften gradually in the coming days and weeks. It is normal to see some pigment on the cotton swab when you are cleaning the area. This is excess pigment or bodily fluid that is naturally exiting your skin.
Days 2-4 – This is when your tattoo will be at their darkest and when most people have the most concern over their life choices. We can assure you that this is temporary as the skin is beginning its healing process and the pigment is at its closest to the surface.
Days 5-7 – Once the healing of the skin starts taking place it will look like flakes of dry skin. This might give you the impression that the color pigment is fading too quickly. However, this is just superficial color and dry skin being removed from your upper layers of the epidermis. It is very important to not exfoliate or pick at the area as this can lift some of the deeper pigment off the skin before it has properly healed. It is normal to lose colour as certain skin types/ ages can influence the skin’s ability to uptake the implanted pigment.
Days 8-10 – You will take a look in the mirror and perhaps wonder where your Brows or Lips went. During this time, the deeper layers of your skin (Dermis) are working to heal the tissues you can’t see. The pigmentation can look like it has disappeared due to the increased white blood cell and fibroblast production temporarily thickening the tissues in the area.
Days 11-28 – Once the deeper healing has been completed, an accurate representation of your pigment retention becomes apparent. Your skin has a 30 day cellular turnover which is why the touch up appointment is always scheduled 4-6 weeks after your first session.
COSMETIC INJECTABLES
We offer free no obligation consultations to discuss what you want your desired outcome to be, any concerns and other factors which will influence your procedure.
To determine the correct dosage, we advise you to book in for a complimentary consultation with our experienced Cosmetic Injectors.
After a thorough consultation, your appointment will be anywhere from 15-60 mins long.
Yes. Anti-Wrinkle Injections influence the movement of the facial muscles and reduce the contractions to prevent future lines from forming earlier than they might naturally. It is one of the most effective anti-ageing treatments that we offer.
Avoid vigorous physical activity or any large intakes of alcohol for 24 hours as this increases the risk of bruising. Aspirin and Vitamin E should not be taken one week before the treatment.
Stay hydrated before your appointment also.
Anti-Wrinkle Cosmetic Injectable treatments come with important after-care recommendations in order to achieve the best results. Our experienced medical team share their post-treatment advice:
- Remain upright for four hours following your treatment and avoid lying down while the product settles into place.
- Avoid any Skin Treatments like Microdermabrasion, Skin Needling, or Dermal Rolling for two weeks after Dermal Fillers
- Avoid active skincare products such as Retinol for at least 5 days after the treatment.
- Avoid alcohol and painkillers such as ibuprofen before and after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and can make you prone to bruising.
- Do not exercise for 24 hours after your treatment and avoid any exercise that involves inverted poses (e.g. yoga, pilates, barre, etc) and provoke sweating as the Dermal Filler is settling into place.
- Avoid exposing your skin to excessive heat or cold including saunas, spas, steam rooms, hot yoga, ice baths, or skiing. Changes in temperature can lead you to touch or rub your face more which can put unwanted pressure on the treated muscles, risking dispersion of the protein into unwanted areas.
- Avoid massaging or applying pressure to the face which can affect how the product settles in a particular area. When cleansing the skin and applying skincare and makeup, only use gentle strokes.

Yes, you can eat and drink after Lip Filler. It may feel a little strange at first as there may be some swelling present. For the first 24 hours, you'll want to avoid eating foods that require excessive chewing so the product can settle.
EYELASH EXTENSIONS
Arrive to your appointment with clean eyes.
Be sure that your lashes are free of any makeup and/or oily residue. Not only does this speed up the application time, the adhesive will stick better to clean lashes
Try not to touch them particularly during the first few hours. The more you touch them, the more oils from your fingers get on them, the more strain on the lash root etc.
After each application, whether it be your first full set of lashes or a refill, avoid getting your lashes wet for at least 24-36hrs. This means shower before your appointment and/or wash your hair & body separately.
However, if you need to, use only lukewarm water, and keep water off your eyes. This also includes avoiding steamy environments, very hot showers, spas, saunas etc. for 24 hours as a minimum. If it’s a very hot and humid day, try to stay out of the heat. All of this will allow the adhesive to cure as strongly as possible.
After the 24 hour mark, they are technically waterproof, however, we recommend you be cautious while around water and avoid rubbing them.
Expect between 2 – 3 weeks before you need an infill. On average, our clients come back every 2 weeks. Sets consisting of more lashes (glam and volume) will usually last longer than those with less (full, lite). Shorter lashes usually last longer too.
Please note the longer you leave between the infills means more maintenance and may make your appointment more expensive.
Lashes must be cleaned as part of your home care routine.
We recommend our carefully formulated lash cleaner and brush to clean them daily.
Do NOT rub your eyes vigorously while cleansing - clean your lash extensions with light fingertip pressure only and we suggest the cleansing brush as sold with our kits.
Lash shedding occurs for everyone and is a normal occurrence that happens more often than you think. Lash shedding happens with or without lash extensions and is important for the hair growth process.
Make sure the products you use are all OIL FREE.
Oils in your makeup remover, skin care products, makeup, etc will breakdown the adhesive on your lashes. These include cleansers, moisturisers, cleansing oils, aromatherapy oils, spray toners, coconut/rosehip oils, eye creams, etc. If you use cleansers that aren't safe for extensions you must take care to wipe the cleasner off your face rather than rinse, as residual product will wash into your lashes.
Avoid waterproof makeup, especially mascara. This will also breakdown the adhesive and cause your extension to fall out prematurely.
Do not pull or tug on your lashes. If they're criss-crossing, use a disposable mascara wand to comb through your lashes, root to end.
It’s normal lose a couple of lashes every day (1-5). Don’t be alarmed if you notice them from time to time (as they are much larger than your natural lashes). The extension falls out attached to the natural lash when it is ready to come out, and a new baby lash takes its place. Some days you won’t lose any, other days you might lose 3 or 4. It’s completely normal and does not mean your eyelashes are all going to fall out!
Some lash growth cycles are faster than others. You may find every few months, your lashes shed faster than other times. It usually means that you have a lot of new growth, and when you come in we will see a lot more lashes we can lash! Other times they might still look great at 4 or 5 weeks, as they have not shed much.
No two sets of lashes are identical. We customize the styling, sizes, weights and curls to every individuals eye shape, natural lash condition and tastes. Each style looks different depending on how own eye shape. So please be aware that your lashes will not look identical to your friends, even if you request the same thing.
If you experience intense itching and or red/swollen eyelids in the first few days after the application. This could be an allergic reaction. Unfortunately, these are largely unavoidable – but luckily they are rare, and can be treated. Please contact us if you are worried.
Excessive shedding of extensions off the natural lashes in the first few days. This is uncommon – but please contact us if you feel they are shedding rapidly within the first 3 days of application so we can troubleshoot and/or assess your lashes.
If (after wearing extensions for a while) you find your eyes sometimes feel gritty and sandy – this can mean that you really need to clean your lashes more frequently/properly. Your technician can assess your lash line and give advice on the best way to clean your lashes.
If you have any queries or questions do not hesitate to contact one of our helpful lash technicians.
NAILS
A gel manicure is a service that uses gel based polish and requires a UV or LED lamp to cure it into the natural nail or on top of acrylic extensions. It is applied the same as a regular nail polish using base coat, colour and top coat. It’s benefits include; stronger nails, 2-3 weeks wear and no chipping.
Generally, acrylic nails should last about two to three weeks before an infill becomes necessary. The nails continue to grow underneath the acrylic nails, hence the need for an infill. After six to eight weeks, you should have nails soaked off and a new set applied.
Nails are removed by gently buffing the top layer of the nail before tightly wrapping with an acetone soaked cotton pad and foil. Wait around 20-30 mins to allow the nails to soften and scrape off excess product using a metal tool or gently file off remaining product.
BIAB aka Builder in a bottle is a range of Nude cover soak off builder gels, ideal for creating strong overlays and as a strengthening barrier for natural nails. Biab can be infilled or soaked off and has no chipping or lifting, which helps to grow natural nails. It can be left nude for a more natural finish or painted with gel colour. It’s flexible yet strong finish helps to avoid breakages and chipping that you may experience with acrylic or gel polish.
A short extension can be created with BIAB to add length if natural nails are too short. However, it is recommended for use on natural nails for the best result.
Yes. As long as the surrounding skin is not swollen and unbroken and there is enough natural nail for the acrylic to hold onto, acrylic nails can be applied to bitten nails. Lots of nail biters have this service to actually prevent further nail biting and help the natural nail grow underneath the extension.
EMA ( Ethyl methacrylate) is the more accepting type of acrylic liquid. In 1999, Cosmetic Ingredient Review approved the use of EMA as safe in nail products. The difference between MMA and EMA products are in the smell, the way they soak off your nail beds, the damage to your natural nails, and overall reaction
Gel polish/ shellac nails take around 30/45 minutes.
Acrylic nails take around 1.5hr to apply including a colour and very basic nail art e.g. glitter, foil.
Acrylic designs and advanced nail art take much longer. If you are unsure on what time to book based on your desired nail design please don’t hesitate to message us with an idea and we can advise time accordingly.
Always wear rubber gloves when washing up, dusting, gardening, applying chemical tan or hair dye, this can cause staining to the surface layer of gel/top coat. Do not file the surface of the nail. Do not bite or pick the product. If one breaks have it repaired immediately. Use non-acetone nail polish if necessary.
SPRAY TANS
10-15 mins is all a tan takes.
We have a range of tans available including 2 hr tan to overnight tan. We also have vegan friendly and organic options for pregnant women.
Wear clothing to and from your spray tanning appointment that are dark in colour, preferably black and loose fitting (cotton clothing) to avoid excess contact or staining to your clothing after your spray tan. We have brown bare suits for sale $10 and allow you to sleep in your tan without staining sheets.
If you're driving remember to pack a towel for your seat. On arrival we will apply moisturizer to dry areas & a hair net so your hair does not get colour on it.
Normal tan – 2 – 8 hrs depending on product used
1-5 Hours After: Avoid any activity that would cause sweating, like exercise, cleaning, or showering, as your spray tan is developing during these hours. Contact with water or sweat could result in lines or uneven tanning.
6-8 Hours after: Shower normally. Do not wash with soap.
JUST USE THE WARM WATER NOT HOT and a gentle face washer for your hands if you feel they are too dark. For the first shower, you will see some colour wash away from your skin. Do not be concerned by this, as your developed tan is still there. While you are drying, remember to pat with a towel, not rub your skin.
TEETH WHITENING
Less than one hour is all that is needed to achieve maximum results.
This depends on each individual and the extent of discoloration, generally from 5-14 shades lighter can be achieved. The more stained your teeth the more dramatic the result will be. Teeth whitening whether done by a dentist or another technician will not whiten your tooth enamel the process will bleach the stains on the surface of your teeth. The results are also relevant to how regularly you have a teeth whitening procedure or use home whitening treatments. Where whitening is done every 6-12 months it is considered a maintenance procedure and results will be less dramatic.
Teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non dental. The products we use are gentler than and just as effective as those used by the dentist. All our products are Australian compliant and produced to the highest standards. Teeth whitening, no matter who does it bleaches stains from the surface of the teeth it does not whiten enamel.
We offer the latest whitening gel approved for use in Australia. We have a hygienic non-touch procedure at NO time will a technician touch you or your mouth. Our gel is gentle and safe, problems are extremely rare. Teeth Whitening is safe for crowns and veneers although these will not lighten as much as natural teeth.
Teeth whitening is a treatment most people want and can have, however, it is not recommended for children under 16 years of age or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not have a teeth whitening treatment if you have gum disease or are requiring dental work.
Teeth will maintain their fresh new appearance for around one year. Re-staining depends largely on diet and lifestyle. Smoking, coffee, tea, fruit juice, sodas all staining foods and beverages will eventually re-stain the surface of your teeth.

AFTERCARE
- Do not rub the area treated.
- Avoid heat treatments for 24 hours.
- Do not apply brow make-up for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid sunbathing for 24 hours, as this can cause the tint to fade.
- Avoid swimming/saunas for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
BROW TINT
Eyebrow tinting is the process of applying semi-permanent dye to enhance, shape, and define your brows and tints the hairs.
Several factors can affect exactly how much time you can go in between eyebrow-tinting treatments. The consensus among experts is that eyebrow tinting will last between three to eight weeks. Factors in how long your tinting will last include:
- the type of dye
- how hard you scrub your face
- what type of makeup remover or face cleanser you use
- sun exposure
- sunscreen use
- how quickly your hair grows and sheds.

Our trained artist can help you choose and map out what is best suited to you
We use a sensitive skin lycodream wax to ensure the softest products for those who struggle with sensitive skin
Brow Dye applies like tint but gives lasting results, similar to Henna. Brow Dye is extra long lasting that dyes both the skin and hair of the brows, it is designed to be retained on the skin up to 2 weeks and up to 7 weeks on hair.
HAIR EXTENSIONS
- WEFT & TAPE are permanent hair extensions options. Weft is a long row of hair be tape which is scattered throughout your hair.
- CLIP INS are a semi permanent option and clipped into the hair.
- HALO is one row of hair, also semi permanent, usually positioned in the hair with a invisible string.
We offer free consultations to help you decide what is going to be the best option for you and suit your hair type.
You now have luscious long locks but we cannot stress the importance of looking after your extensions once you walk out our door. We provide this information to you to get the best results and longest life out of your hair extensions. If you don’t follow these guidelines we cannot warrant your hair extensions.
IMPORTANT - Your hair extensions are only warranted if you are using OUR in salon hair care range, your stylist will recommend to you what products are best.
MORNING
Upon waking, brush your hair, if you are styling making sure to use a good quality hair straightener eg Cloud9 (which we stock) or GHD and a heat protectant.
SLEEP TIME
-Before bed brush hair.
-Put hair in low loose plait for sleeping
-A satin pillow slip is also a great way to prevent extensions from knotting as the hair will slide instead of cotton may rough it up a bit more.
-Popping some oil/serum through the ends of the extensions every 2-3 nights is also a good idea As the hair is exposed to wind and sun throughout the day so this helps to nourish the extensions as they receive no natural oils from our scalp like our own hair does so it is important to hydrate and replenish them.
SHAMPOO, CONDITION AND TREAT
(Using only OUR salon Haircare range that your stylist recommends)
-Brush hair before entering the shower to remove any tangles
-Rinse hair in warm water (try to avoid very hot water)
-Apply 20c size amount of shampoo, apply to the scalp only, lather and wash scalp (do not apply shampoo to mids and ends)
-Rinse hair and shampoo will run through your ends to remove any product build up
-Repeat the last step (shampoo twice this is important to properly clean scalp)
-Apply a 20c size amount of conditioner to mid lengths and ends of hair (do not apply conditioner to roots) and leave for 3-5mins
-Apply a hair mask treatment once a week in replace of conditioner.
-When drying pat hair - do not rub!
-Wear your hair in a loose braid or low pony when wet, please don’t put it in a top knot or tight bun when it is wet.
-When styling your hair apply a moisturiser and heat protectant to mids and ends, comb softly and then you can begin to blow dry and style. Be sure to dry the root of the weft completely.
-Do not use products containing protein, keratin, sulphates and high alcohol contents ( any products that say rebuild/strengthen/reconstruct are all protein based so are a no go) These products will destroy your extensions making them knotty and unmanageable. This can happen even after one use and is irreversible. It is very important to listen to your Shique stylist on what products are suitable for your extensions - these are professional salon quality products so are good for your natural hair also.
-If you are a swimmer please keep in mind your hair extension quality wont last as long as someone that doesn’t swim often. Be sure to rinse your extensions well after swimming, comb through gently and apply a treatment to get the moisture back into them
-The extensions need to be pushed up regularly. Depending on how quick your hair grows we recommend anywhere between 4-8weeks - NO LONGER. Leaving them longer can cause damage to the natural hair, as the heavy extension will be pulling down on the hair. The natural hair can also matt and get tangled between the scalp and the extension if left to long.
-Please do not colour your extensions! We will colour match your hair and if not a correct match we will colour them for you to suit your hair. Purple shampoo is ok if you are blonde but be careful as the extensions will grab onto it quick. We recommend only using a purple shampoo on your extensions once per fortnight.
-The hair extensions may feel tight for the first few days after initial application. Some clients feel discomfort for up to a week, however this is extremely rare. If extensions are causing discomfort to the point where the client would like them removed, they can be removed for half price within the first fortnight of application.
If you have any queries please don't hesitate to talk to your stylist!
We offer a free hair consultation to help you choose a match

MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that targets a wide variety of skin concerns such as pigmentation, fine lines, enlarged pores and overall texture. It is suitable for nearly everybody. It works by creating a series of small openings in the skin’s outer layer (micro-trauma) resulting in stimulation of the body’s healing response. During this accelerated phase of cellular turnover the skin creates collagen and elastin to the area that has been addressed. Commonly treated concerns are:
Micro-Needling is suitable for most people. However, there are a few conditions that affect your eligibility, interfere with the needling procedure and or the healing process. It is not recommended to undergo this procedure if you are pregnant, nursing, diabetic or undergoing chemotherapy. You should avoid Micro-Needling if you have a heart condition, bleeding disorders, skin irritation near the treatment area, epilepsy, viral infection, disease, have had botox/filler in the last 30 days.

There is no one size fits all treatment and everyone’s skin will react differently based on age, genetics and complexion (oily, dry etc). As part of your initial session we will have a discussion around your goals, expectations and realistic outcomes with appropriate timelines.
Generally speaking, however, most people will begin to notice an improvement of their target areas after 3 sessions with most goals reached within 4-6 sessions. The time between sessions is 4-6 weeks which is the time it takes for your skin to have completed its cellular turnover.
As mentioned previously, Micro-Needling results depend greatly on the skin concern and its severity and you as an individual. Consequently, the length of which results last is subjective. Our focus on skin improvement, which can sometimes mean ongoing/periodic maintenance. Factors that influence the outcome and longevity are:
- Skin type such as high oil production.
- Age and skin integrity.
- Sun Exposure. Repeated UV exposure actively fades tattoo pigment.
- Topical medications, such as steroids
- Skincare with active ingredients, such as Retinoids.
- Cosmetic procedures such as Chemical Peels and Laser
- Lifestyle Factors which expose your skin to free radicals, such as smoking.
- Avoid Accutane 6 months prior to treatment
- Cease using skin care with active ingredients such a retinoids, steroids or antibiotics 5-7 days before treatment
- Do not use anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen or Voltaren and blood thinning agents such as fish oil 72 hours prior as they can enhance bruising
- Avoid waxing, electrolysis or shaving to the area
- If prone to cold sores, take an antiviral agent 48 hours before treatment
- Do not take anti-inflammatories for 7 days post treatment. Panadol is fine.
- Refrain from using ice to the area as this can interfere with the bodies healing response
- Minimal exposure to sunlight for 2 weeks post treatment. Wear a high SPF when you are outside
- Avoid skincare with retinoids for 72 hours – 2 weeks depending on skin sensitivity
- Excessive sweating and steam can dehydrate your skin. Minimise where possible for 48 hours
